How to Get Rid of Chipmunks

If you have a chipmunk problem, you might be wondering how to get rid of chipmunks. These little rodents are five to six inches long, with dark stripes down their bodies and a white stripe down the middle of their backs. Their unique coloration allows them to blend in with their surroundings and cause a problem if they start robbing you of your valuable possessions.

Plan B to get rid of chipmunks

There are several ways to prevent and control chipmunks. Although they tend to live outdoors, chipmunks can sometimes find their way inside your home. These creatures can tear up your garden and cause damage if they cannot find food. If you want to prevent chipmunks from entering your home, you can try sealing your yard. Caulk, expandable construction foam, and even concrete can be used to fill holes and cracks.

Using fumigants to repel chipmunks is not a good idea. Not only are they toxic, but they can also cause fires. Moreover, chipmunks have burrows that are shallow in summer and deeper in winter. Filling up these burrows won’t work since they will simply dig new ones. If you don’t want to deal with chipmunks, you should consider a different plan.

Using traps is another option. While trapping chipmunks is a great solution for small infestations, it won’t guarantee permanent control. Instead, you should look for other ways to get rid of chipmunks, such as using repellents or fencing. But in the end, if the situation persists, plan B. And remember that you can always get professional help if necessary.

Achieving a permanent solution to chipmunks is not a good idea, as the animals are quick and skittish. You should make sure that the squirrels are not inside your house if you want to keep the pests away. Alternatively, you can try to trap them in your backyard, but be careful. A successful chipmunk removal solution is a combination of a few measures to keep them out of your home.

Another effective method of repelling chipmunks is the use of liquid repellents. Commercial repellents contain cayenne pepper or olive oil and are effective in preventing them from burrowing. For a DIY solution, you can mix cayenne pepper and olive oil in water. Once you’ve mixed the ingredients, fill a clean spray bottle with the mixture and shake it. Then spray the area to repel chipmunks. Repeat the application as necessary. The repellent also works well in protecting fragile tulip bulbs.

Cayenne pepper

One of the most effective methods for getting rid of chipmunks is to sprinkle crushed cayenne pepper around plants and shrubs. Mix the cayenne pepper with a small amount of petroleum jelly and apply a thin layer to the plants or shrubs. This will prevent the pepper from getting washed away and will keep the pepper on the plants. Before you apply the cayenne pepper, it is a good idea to wear a mask so that you don’t accidentally spray your pets.

Another effective method is to use cayenne pepper, which is highly toxic to chipmunks. A few drops of this pepper mixed with a few cups of water are enough to keep chipmunks away for weeks. You can also mix the cayenne pepper with water and spray the affected areas. While it is unlikely to stop chipmunks from entering your home, it is effective and will keep them from relocating to another location.

To scare chipmunks away, you can also spray the area with predator urine or human hair. The smell of this substance is highly offensive to chipmunks. You can also mix a tablespoon of cayenne pepper with a quarter gallon of water. While this will repel chipmunks temporarily, it won’t stop them from coming back. You can also use garlic powder mixed with water as a natural repellent.

Another effective method is to mix cayenne pepper with two cups of water. This will deter chipmunks from coming near the area, but be sure to mix the pepper with water as it contains capsaicin, which is not good for chipmunks. Also, cayenne pepper can kill beneficial insects. If you are afraid of the chipmunks getting into your home, try mixing cayenne pepper with a few tablespoons of water.

Chipmunks prefer to live on the street and do not like human habitation. If you have a chipmunk in your home, it probably came in accidentally. This is because it wants to leave. If you have an open window and door, it will leave on its own. If you can’t catch them in time, you can trap them, or spray with a cayenne pepper solution.

Mothballs

If you want to learn how to get rid of chipmunks, you may have already tried using mothballs. Despite the smell, chipmunks are not very fond of this product. This is due to the chemicals that they contain and the strong odor they emit. Even chipmunks that accidentally eat mothballs will soon lose their taste for them.

For a natural deterrent for chipmunks, you can try spraying the area around your house with baby powder or red pepper. You can also mix the two together. Using mothballs is not illegal, but only if you apply them outside. In any case, you should keep them in an airtight container, such as a garment bag or storage bin.

Mothballs have a very pungent odor, which chipmunks cannot stand. You can scatter the mothballs around your house or put them in the holes, which will deter the rodents. The smell will prevent them from reentering your house and will make them move on to other sites. In addition to repelling chipmunks, mothballs can also be placed in their holes.

Unlike mothballs, natural mothballs are not harmful to humans, so you can use them around your pets without fear of poisoning them. The odor is a strong enough deterrent to keep chipmunks away from your garage. If the chipmunks cannot be stopped, you can use cayenne pepper, which acts as a natural repellent.

Chipmunks will avoid the smell of mothballs, but if you use a high quality repellent spray, they will not come near your house. Mothballs can also be strewn around your property. However, it is important to be careful not to spray mothballs near your pets’ food and water. These repellents can be dangerous to their health if ingested.

A good way to keep chipmunks away from your garden is to keep them away from plants and seeds. To keep chipmunks from your garden, make sure to store pet food and birdseed in rodent-proof containers. Also, if you have flowers and trees, be sure to prune them so they don’t have a place to hide. You can also install plastic owls in your yard to discourage chipmunks.

Dry repellents

Using repellents is a simple way to keep chipmunks away from your property. You can choose from several options and the concentrations vary depending on the needs of your property. Some repellents have a long-lasting effect while others may be temporary. Apply repellents on the ground at least five feet away from your foundation and near woodpiles, trees, and plants. Repellents should be applied at least once a week and should be reapplied every seven to 10 days.

If you’re tired of using toxic chemicals to get rid of chipmunks, try using dry repellents. These repellents last longer than liquid sprays, and are also more effective at preventing chipmunks from burrowing in your yard. Granular repellents, like Shake Away, are also an effective option. These repellents do not kill the pests but do discourage them from coming back to your property. Another solution to chipmunks is to use cayenne pepper. This spicy ingredient works wonders as a repellent.

While it’s tempting to try to relocate chipmunks to new areas, you may be prohibited by local laws from doing so. If this is the only option, dry repellents are the safest option. These repellents are safe for humans and rodents, but should never be used near plants meant for human consumption. In addition to repellents, you can also use owl traps to catch chipmunks. Remember to place the traps far away from your home so that chipmunks will not venture to your property.

To keep chipmunks from your yard, you can plant plants that are naturally chipmunk-repellent. Daffodils, hyacinths, and carnassia are excellent chipmunk repellents. If you can’t afford to buy these repellents, consider hiring a pest control service. This will ensure that the chipmunks don’t come back.

Liquid repellents are available in a variety of forms. You can purchase a commercial product or make your own repellent by boiling olive oil and cayenne into a solution. Mix the ingredients and store them in a spray bottle. Shake it well before spraying it on your property. Reapplication is necessary, so be patient. Even if the chipmunks don’t leave, they may find a safe place to stay and build their nest.
